About the black travertine — genuine natural stone with a matte black surface finish
The base of this ceiling light is made from genuine travertine stone. To create a deep, even black aesthetic, the stone surface is finished with a matte black coating — rather than left in its natural off-white state. This is an intentional design choice: the weight, density, and natural pore structure of genuine travertine are preserved, while the surface colour is controlled. The entire stone presents a consistent matte black — this is exactly as it was designed to be.
Natural travertine — formed by geological processes
Travertine is formed in the natural environment through thousands of years of complex physical and chemical processes. Even beneath the black surface, the pore distribution and stone characteristics of each piece remain entirely unique.

Is the travertine naturally black?
No — travertine is naturally off-white. The matte black finish is a surface coating applied to the genuine stone as an intentional design choice. The natural pore structure, weight, and density are fully preserved beneath.
How does the spotlight work alongside the globe?
The opal glass globe provides soft, diffused ambient light across the room, while the walnut-accented spotlight rotates to direct focused illumination exactly where you need it — ideal for reading, bedside tasks, or highlighting a specific area.
Can this be mounted on the wall as well as the ceiling?
