The Washi Paper E Pendant Swag Light brings the warm, diffused quality of traditional mulberry paper into any room without hardwiring. A 180″ plug-in cord drapes over two ceiling hooks in a gentle swag, suspending a handcrafted washi shade that filters light into the soft, even glow of afternoon sun through shoji screens.

Each shade is hand-bonded from mulberry washi paper and glue. Minor traces of glue along the edge of the lampshade may be visible. This is a characteristic of the handcraft process and does not constitute a defect or quality issue.

Compatible with LED and Edison filament bulbs. A warm-white bulb (2700–3000 K) is strongly recommended — the washi paper diffuses light evenly and the warm tone creates the characteristic golden-cream ambient glow this shade is known for.

Does this lamp need to be hardwired?
No. The Washi Paper E Pendant is a swag-style plug-in fixture. A 180″ cord with an inline on/off switch plugs into any standard outlet. Two ceiling hooks are included — simply hang the cord across them to achieve the swag drape. No electrician required.
Why are there glue traces on my lampshade?
The shade is hand-bonded from washi paper and glue. Minor traces of glue along the edge are a natural characteristic of this handcraft process — not a defect. Each shade is individually made and carries the marks of its own making.
What bulb is recommended?
A warm-white LED (2700–3000 K) with an E26 or E27 base is strongly recommended. The washi paper diffuses and softens the light — a warm tone creates the characteristic golden-cream ambient glow. A clear filament Edison bulb also works beautifully. See our E26/E27 bulb guide for more details.
