A tall, slim pillar lamp with a hand-finished ribbed ceramic column base and an oversized black fabric drum shade. The textured ceramic catches and breaks up light along its vertical grooves; the drum shade softens the bulb into ambient glow, not task brightness. 40″ tall × 9.6″ diameter — proportioned for low consoles, sideboards, or floor placement beside a sofa or armchair. Plug-and-play with inline cord switch.

Ambient light — not task light

The black drum shade is opaque and the column form is decorative — light glows from above and below the shade rather than projecting downward onto a surface. Best paired with overhead or task lighting for reading; on its own, it sets mood rather than illuminating work.

Ribbed ceramic column

Hand-finished vertical fluting on a porcelain-tone ceramic — texture changes how light falls along the surface.

Oversized drum shade

Tall black fabric drum diffuses the bulb evenly — soft ambient glow, no glare from below.

40″ slim profile

Taller than a standard table lamp, narrower than a floor lamp — slots into spaces a full floor lamp can't fit.

  • Place on a stable flat surface — low console, sideboard, side table at sofa height, or directly on the floor next to seating. The slim base footprint fits narrow ledges.
  • Thread the E26/E27 bulb (sold separately) into the socket. 2700K warm-white LED ≤40W recommended — higher wattage warms the fabric shade unnecessarily.
  • Care: dust the ceramic with a dry soft brush (the vertical grooves catch dust). For fingerprints, wipe with a slightly damp cloth, dry immediately. Fabric shade: dust with a lint roller; do not wet-clean.
Is this a table lamp or a floor lamp?

At 40″ tall it sits between the two categories. On a typical 16″ nightstand it reads as oversized; on a low 12″ sofa-height side table it reads as a tall accent lamp. Placed directly on the floor next to a sofa, it functions as a slim floor lamp. The 9.6″ slim base lets it fit narrow ledges where a wider floor lamp would block traffic.

What bulb does it use — E26 or E27?

E26 medium screw base for North America and Canada; E27 for Europe, Australia, and other 220V markets. Both versions accept LED or Edison-style bulbs up to 40W equivalent. 2700K warm-white LED works best — higher color temperatures will read cold through the black fabric shade.

Is it dimmable?

The fixture itself has only an inline on/off push button. To dim, pair it with a dimmable LED bulb plus a smart plug (Lutron Caséta or TP-Link Kasa) — the bulb dims through the app or schedule with no rewiring needed.

Will the ceramic chip or crack?

The ceramic is dense and durable. The vertical grooves are part of the hand finish — slight variation between pieces is intentional and not a defect. Avoid impacts to the column base, and place on stable, level surfaces. If the lamp arrives with damage from shipping, email info@vakkerlighting.com with photos within 7 days for a replacement.

Can I get a different shade color?

Standard finish is black drum on white ceramic — the high-contrast pairing is the core look. For alternative shade colors (cream, beige, dark gray), email info@vakkerlighting.com before ordering for a quote. Lead time for custom shades is 4–6 weeks.
