The natural translucence of alabaster lets warm light glow through every section evenly, revealing the stone's fibrous veining from within. The whole column rests on a solid marble base.
Compact footprint at 28 × 24 cm (11″ × 9.4″) — stands beside a sofa, in a reading corner, or as a single sculptural anchor in a foyer. Available in two heights: 59″ (150 cm) or 44.9″ (114 cm). Will the alabaster sections all look the same?
No — and that's the point. Alabaster is natural stone, so each of the four diamond sections will have its own veining direction and tonal warmth. The four pieces in your column will read as a coherent family — same color tone, same finish — but never as identical twins.
Can I replace the bulbs?
Cairn uses integrated LEDs distributed along the inner column — they're not user-replaceable like a screw-in bulb. They're rated for roughly 50,000 hours of service, which is over 45 years at 3 hours per day. For warranty service or if a section ever fails, contact our team directly.
Which height should I choose?
The Standard (59″ / 150 cm) reads as a full floor lamp — a strong vertical presence beside a sofa or in a foyer. The Compact (44.9″ / 114 cm) sits at side-table height and works well in tighter corners, beside an armchair, or where ceiling height or sight-lines make a taller lamp feel heavy. Both share the same footprint and light output.
Is the marble base heavy enough to keep it stable?
Yes — the solid marble base is intentionally weighted to anchor the column securely against accidental bumps. For households with pets or small children, we recommend tucking the cord along the wall so it can't be pulled. Lift from the marble base (not the alabaster sections) when repositioning.
How do I clean it?
Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth — both the alabaster column and marble base. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth, never soak the stone or use acidic cleaners (lemon, vinegar, bleach), which will permanently etch both alabaster and marble.
Does the alabaster glow when lit?
Yes — alabaster is naturally translucent. When the integrated LEDs are on, each diamond section glows softly from within, revealing the fibrous veining like a slice of frozen amber. The effect is most striking in dimmer rooms; in brightly-lit daytime spaces, the column reads as a sculptural object first and a light second.
